Slate Design, Ltd. was formed by Mark Daniel in 2001. What began as a 1-man design/build shop has evolved into a multi-disciplinary product design firm. Slate has an extensive portfolio, with work ranging from soup bowls to bedroom furniture. We have experience in a variety of materials as well, with products manufactured in veneered and solid wood, steel, aluminum, ceramics and blown glass.
We've had the opportunity to design exclusive products for a number of leading US retailers, including Crate and Barrel, CB2, Design Within Reach, Storehouse, Marshall Fields/Macys and Z Gallerie. Talented people from around the world help make our ideas a reality. We spend time with each factory in the US, Asia and Europe to understand their capabilities and their production processes. It is this collaboration that sets us apart from other design firms; we are involved in a product's development from initial sketch to final manufacturing.
